Disney Orders Three New Cruise Ships

Disney Cruise Line has revised there earlier statement that they will build two new cruise ships, now Disney Cruise Line will be adding three new ships to enter service in 2021, 2022, and 2023, built at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany.

The additional 135,000-ton ship will be launched the year in between the two formerly announced cruise ships. Each cruise ship will be designed to be power-driven by clean-burning liquefied natural gas.

The ship will have 1,250 cabins, carrying in excess of 2,500 passengers, which is a touch bigger than the latest Disney Cruise Line ships, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, which entered the fleet 2011 and 2012.

The names, design and itineraries have yet to be revealed but each ship is likely to have its personal inimitable features.

At the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, said: “We decided two ships wouldn’t be enough to hold all of the exciting new experiences we have been dreaming up to take family cruise vacations to a whole new level with immersive Disney storytelling, world-class family entertainment, and imaginative innovations that are fantastically fun and uniquely Disney,”  

The new ships “will usher in the next generation of innovative cruise experiences designed especially for families that will transform the art-of-cruising and take guests on adventures in a way never dreamed of before”. Chapek said
