Princess Cruises Announces Construction of Fourth Royal Class Ship

Construction has commenced on Princess Cruises fourth Royal Class ship with a steel cutting ceremony held at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone Italy.

The ship will be the fourth in the Royal Class that likewise Royal PrincessRegal Princess and Majestic Princess, but the new build will be somewhat bigger, measuring 145,000 tons and will accomodate 4,250 passengers at full capacity, and is scheduled for delivery in 2019.

Keith Taylor, Princess Cruises executive vice president of fleet operations, gave the following statement: “Today’s steel cutting of Hull 6268 signals the continuation of a 16 year partnership that has delivered some of the most spectacular and innovative cruise ships at sea for Princess Cruises. We are delighted with the longevity of our partnership with Fincantieri and know that this next ship will follow on the successful design platform demonstrated with her sister ships.”  

The ship will have the have all the colossal features of the Royal class ships including the Piazza, the Seawalk that reaches out more than 128 feet over the water, the Enclave thermal suite, and the biggest open air TV screen at sea. Extra insights about the ship will be released at a later time.
