Aussies Delight with The News Carnival Splendor will Sail Year-Round from Sydney, Australia

Social media feeds went viral this morning with the news that Carnival Splendor will sail year-round from Sydney, Australia from December 2019.

Carnival Cruise Line president Christine Duffy, who is visiting Sydney from Miami this week, announced the 113,300GT 3,012-passenger Carnival Splendor will be homeported in Sydney from December 2019.

Announcing the news in Australia today, Carnival Cruise Line’s President, Christine Duffy said, “Today’s announcement reflects Carnival’s serious commitment to the Australian market.”

“We’ve had over 800,000 Australians cruise with Carnival since we launched in Australia just five years ago – a number that would fill the Sydney Cricket Ground 17 times over.

“The arrival of Carnival Splendor to Sydney represents a 66 percent  capacity increase for Carnival Cruise Line in Australia, meaning we will be in the best position to give even more Australians the opportunity to enjoy the fun of a Carnival cruise.”

The Carnival Splendor will undergo a significant drydock before she makes her arrival, upgrades will involve the vessel gaining new dining venues features Australian passengers love, such as a new waterpark.

Built in 2008 and refurbished in 2016, The Carnival Splendor will undergo a significant drydock.

The maiden voyage from Sydney in December 2019 is set to be a repositioning cruise from Singapore. Bookings for Splendor’s 2019 sailings will open in March 2018 while sailings for 2020 are expected to go on sale in May or June.

Following the drydock, Carnival Splendor will make her first voyage which will be a repositioning cruise in December 2019 from Singapore.

Splendor will also have Carnival’s first ever goddaughter, six-year-old Matilda Jenkins, a patient at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead which Carnival have a charity partnership with, was officially welcomed into the Carnival family by Ms Duffy and the crew.

In a first for Carnival Cruises, Splendor will have her very first goddaughter Matilda Jenkins, a six-year-old patient at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead,
